| About Patrick
Mumford:
CPat is Senior Vice President and Manager of Environmental Affairs at Wachovia Corporation, providing leadership to increase Wachovia’s understanding and management of its environmental impacts in order to support Wachovia’s vision of being the best, most trusted and admired company in the financial services industry.
Pat leads Wachovia’s corporate environmental strategy effort, focusing on lending policies, facility design and operation, procurement and recycling programs, and employee engagement.
Prior to managing Environmental Affairs, Pat spent 16 years in Wachovia’s Corporate Real Estate Division. One of Pat’s major accomplishments in Corporate Real Estate was leading an effort to develop a mixed-use urban project, called The Green, between College and South Tryon Streets in downtown Charlotte.
The project includes a 1.4 acre park, 880 parking spaces below the park, 40,000 sf of retail space, 20,000 sf of office space and 57 luxury condominiums. A key component of the project is the Ratcliffe Florist Building, a unique and historic building that was moved, preserved and incorporated into the new retail structure. The project typifies what the City of Charlotte’s 2010 Plan outlines as an ideal urban development.
Pat is currently serving his second term on Charlotte’s City Council, as an at-large member. Pat serves on the Council’s Budget and Neighborhood Development Committees and chairs the Council’s Transportation Committee where he is leading an effort to develop a comprehensive transportation strategy which integrates land use and transportation choices.
Pat also chairs the Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Commission and serves on the boards of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Development Corporation, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Housing Partnership, the US National Whitewater Center, and the Little Sugar Creek Greenway.
A native of Miami, Florida, Pat earned bachelors degrees in Architectural Design and Building Science from Clemson University. Pat has lived in Charlotte since 1987, moving to the Dilworth neighborhood in 1991 with his wife and two sons. He is an avid cyclist, frequently commuting to work by bike.
