I am pleased to represent your communities and much of the rest of Southeast Charlotte on the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners. The area in which you live is among the most desirable in our community. I congratulate you on your efforts to cooperate with your neighbors in your common interests to serve, promote and protect your neighborhoods.

Among other functions that may be of interest to you, the Board of County Commissioners exercises primary responsibility for funding public school and courts facilities, capital and operating funding for parks, libraries and the jail, and administering area human services and building standards departments.

Dan Bishop is serving his first term on the Board. He also serves on the Effective and Efficient Government, Natural Resources and Education Liaison Committees.

Bishop is a native Charlottean, having graduated from South Mecklenburg High School. He received his B.S. in Business Administration in 1986 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. with highest distinction, and his law degree with high honors, in 1990. 

Bishop was a member of the North Carolina Law Review, Order of the Coif and Phi Beta Kappa.
